Περιγραφή

There is no other place in Chios where history has left its deep marks, than the region of Kampos, a place that nowadays levitates between its rich history and its present dull reality. Fate, however, has shown avenging fury on Kampos, perhaps because this splendour and exaggeration are not consistent with human suffering, or because decline is the natural consequence of every man-made conquest. For three years Stratis wandered around most places of Kampos, he went into abandoned mansions, in neglected courtyards, in restored houses, he wandered in narrow streets, in countless orchards, he encountered people living there and recorded their narratives.

Stratis Vogiatzis (b. 1978) is a Greek filmmaker, anthropologist, photographer, producer and writer. He studied economic and political sciences in Thessaloniki and social anthropology in Amsterdam dealing with children and political violence. He has published five books and he exhibits regularly worldwide.   He is the founder of the Caravan Project, a multi-layer cultural project that has produced numerous interdisciplinary audiovisual productions and community based programs. Caravan project’s  mission is to enhance collective intelligence, cultivate the arts of living in a damaged planet, raise awareness upon social issues and  empower citizens and communities to articulate their own voice.
